John Leopold was elected to the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors in November, 2008. He represents the First District, which includes Live Oak, Soquel, the Summit area, Santa Cruz Gardens and Carbonera. John previously served on the Cabrillo College Governing Board for eight years, leading the effort to pass a bond for the college in 2004.

Over the course of his career, John raised millions of dollars for UC Santa Cruz as the Development Director for the Division of Social Sciences and served as Executive Director of the Santa Cruz AIDS Project. While Associate Director of Working Partnerships, John helped design the Children's Health Initiative, which provides health insurance coverage for nearly 10,000 local children.

John lives in Live Oak with his wife, Teresa, and his two daughters, Rose and Ana.

John meets regularly with constituents from the First District, including Live Oak, Soquel, the Summit, Santa Cruz Gardens, Carbonera and Pasatiempo, and Branciforte/Happy Valley.
