Campos began working in the fields with his father and eventually worked at Union Ice Company in Salinas where he loaded lettuce for 14 years. In 1969, Campos began taking classes in the evenings, while maintaining his full time job loading lettuce, in order to obtain his real estate license.

In March of 1977, Campos married Becky. On January 1, 1978, Campos and his wife began building what is now one of the most successful real estate businesses, Coldwell Banker Campos Real Estate, in Watsonville.

Campos continues to work closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, federal, state and local representatives to complete the 100-year Flood Protection Project for the Pajaro River.
